There are many wonderful places to eat in Stratford-upon-Avon, mostly independently run and all with wonderful attention to detail and excellent service.
If you choose a chain restaurant then its a good idea to check websites or smartphone apps such as vouchercloud for deals. All Restaurants are within a 5 minute walk of the RSC theatres and a 15 minute walk from Moss Cottage.

Restaurants in Stratford
Opened in August 2012 this Greek (also serving Italian, Spanish & English) restaurant has excellent menu choices, food and service. A clean contemporary feel in over two floors its has a light airy feel even when busy. If your feeling adventurous try the Mezzes (22 dish award winning banquet) or go A la Carte, or mini mezzes (lunch). No.9 Church Street:
Sited in a 400 year old grade 2 listed building, serving English food with a contemporary twist. Small very friendly with excellent locally sourced seasonal food and service, Pre-theatre or full menu available. 01789 415522
New to Stratford in January 2014. Serving ‘thai tapas’ this unique restaurant has a really fresh feel and very friendly service, earning a rapidly growing fan club locally. 01789 268733
Built in around 1590 this building has one of the most strikingly original frontages in Stratford. Behind the wooden beamed front is a small bar area and then a large air conditioned restaurant serving traditional English food, pork, steaks, fish & chips, as well as glutten free and vegetarian options. 01789 292186
*note: If you visit the Garrick, be sure to look at the oak beamed building next door, known locally as Harvard House, every beam on the front of this building is carved. This and the Garrick, side by side are two of the most wonderful building in Stratford.
Vintner, Cafe/wine bar:
Getting its name from the fact that John Smith traded wine from this building in the year 1600 (did Shakespeare buy his wine here?). This charming building with its old beams and flag stone floors has a wide menu choice and extensive wine list (obviously!) 01789 297259

Known locally and to many theatre goers simply as OPPO, extensive menu and wine list, run by the same people as Lambs and Vintner, all good quality food and service in old building to give you the olde wolde feel of stratford. 01789 269980
The Waterside Brasserie:
Located in the Eden Hotel directly opposite the RSC theatres, Top Class food and service in this 5 star hotel. Also having a champagne bar and terrace. 01789 298682
The Rooftop Restaurant:
Set right on top of the RSC theatre with wonderful views over the river Avon. This is a top class restaurant which obviously comes at a price, but you get what you pay for. Special occasion dining! Make that theatre day a special one. 01789 403449
The Golden Bee:
A Witherspoons pub offering value food and drink right in the centre of Stratford.
Classic Italian food, perfectly prepared with a great choice of wines close to the waterfront. With deli and shop for all your Italian goodies. 01789 267424
Looking for something a little more spicy? This classic Indian restaurant is very close to the RSC theatres with friendly staff always happy to help you choose your perfect Indian dishes to suit your tastes. 01789 205804
If you can’t decide between you which style of food you fancy, this could be your ideal place! A self service “eat all you like” buffet with perfectly prepared Indian, Thai, Chinese and Italian food. Everything from salads, grilled fish, pizza, samosas, to a cooked in front of you stir fry. Its all in one place. This is situated just a few minutes walk from Moss Cottage in the village of Shottery, if you don’t want to go into the town centre. Run by Green King IPA brewery is serves a wide menu, well cooked in a very friendly local pub. Church street town house:
Open for just over a year, this is a very successful new business in Stratford. Comprising a good quality restaurant and a lively wine bar, very popular on Friday evening for their ‘happy hour’ champagne offers.
Tea/Coffee Shops in Stratford
Just a few doors away from Shakespeares Birthplace, perfect for that shot of coffee to get you back on your feet again and out to see all Stratford has to offer. Undoubtedly the best Brownies in Stratford too! 01789 2o4199

Bars in Stratford
Brand new to Stratford, a small, very friendly bar serving ales and ciders straight from the cask. Also serving carefully selected cider and wines. Ideal for a quiet drink and chat with friends, no tv, fruit machines or music. Just friendship and beer.
Probably Stratford most famous pub! Situated on waterside just along the road from the RSC theatre. This is not just a nice pub for a lunchtime rest with views of the river Avon, but also its used by most of the actors from the theatre. Pop in for a quick drink or a cuppa after the theatre and you may find yourself chatting to one of the actors you have just been watching, they are always happy to chat to theatre goers (especially if you offer to buy them a drink!). 01789 297312
Right in central Stratford, old timbered pub run by Green king IPA, a very friendly atmosphere just a 5 minute walk from the theatres.
The Pen & Parchment and The Red Lion:
These 2 pubs are just off the centre of town on Bridgefoot one way system but are only a 5 minute walk from the theatre and offer good ‘pub grub’ for a very decent price. Some times 2 meals for £11.
